Jean Dayton West was an American portraitist whose works are treasured in homes all over the country and whose career spanned almost a century. Her ability to capture not only a subject's likeness but their inner spirit as well has made her art transcend time. Very few of her works have been available in the private market as families hold fast to the beauty of her skill. Her life story is also an inspiration to the twenty-first century having overcome polio and personal loss with perseverance and faith in others.
