Mr. Miller's Apollo harp was made by the Salvi harp company in Piasco, Italy, in 1999. The Apollo has the largest soundboard ever made, giving it, as world renowned harpist Catrin Finch stated, a "huge, mellow sound." It is a stunningly beautiful instrument that provides a centerpiece to any event. Below are some samples played by Italian harpists when introducing the Apollo in 1997.    Mr. Miller's Lyon and Healy Style 15 semi-grand harp was built at the end of World War II in 1947. It was originally sent to New York, then found its way to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where it remained more for decoration than music. Rosalind Simpson, harpist to the Santa Fe area, critiqued the instrument and stated that she couldn't believe its wonderful sound quality. Mr. Miller had the instrument flown to Alabama. While getting a "harp check-up," Lyon and Healy technicians were amazed with its original condition and beautiful tone, and pleased that this lost treasure had been found.

Mr. Miller Sr. constructed Steven Todd's first harp from a kit in 1978. His first performance with it was a production of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing," where he composed and sang two ballads in the play. The music playing on this page is an original recording from the show, using this harp.

Thanks, Dad!
